چکیده

originate in the mesenchymal elements of the gastric wall and express the CD-117 protein. They are submucosal and may be classified according to their morphologic features: endogastric (the most frequent type, in which the bulk of the tumour projects into the gastric lumen), exogastric (in which the tumour projects into the peritoneal cavity), combined endoand exogastric, and intramural. The peak incidence is in the sixth decade. Although mostly benign, these tumours exhibit a spectrum of clinical behaviour that may be difficult to predict even on the basis of histologic examination. I describe here a case of an endogastric stromal tumour associated with localized serosal hyperemia. Case report

Synchronous gastric inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour with gastrointestinal stromal tumour of the stomach and hepatic syringious haemangioma

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of the stomach is a very rare lesion. A case of a gastric inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumour of the stomach and hepatic syringious haemangioma is described. We report an 80-year-old male who had an exophytic mass in the area of the pylorus and the duodenum, where hepatic cysts were found in the magnetic resonan...

KIT Mutation and Loss of 14q May Be Sufficient for the Development of Clinically Symptomatic Very Low-Risk GIST

The aim of this study was to determine the minimal set of genetic alterations required for the development of a very low risk clinically symptomatic gastro-intestinal stromal tumour within the stomach wall. We studied the genome of a very low-risk gastric gastro-intestinal stromal tumour by whole-genome sequencing, comparative genomic hybridisation and methylation profiling. The studied tumour ...

The role of tumour microenvironment in gastric cancer angiogenesis

Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. More than 95% of gastric cancers are adenocarcinomas originating from the glandular epithelium of the stomach lining. Unfortunately, a large number of patients are diagnosed when the tumour is at unresectable stage. Therefore, it is very important to understand the mechanisms involved in gastric cancer pathogenesis. One of them is a...

Gastric Calcifying Fibrous Tumor Resembling Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor: A Case Report

Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor, affecting children and young adults with a predilection for the soft tissue and the abdominal cavity. CFT of the tubular gastrointestinal tract is very rare with less than 20 cases of gastric CFTs reported in English literature. This benign hypocellular fibrosclerotic calcifying lesion can resemble other spindle cell tumors particularl...

Perioperative and Oncological Outcome of Laparoscopic Resection of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST) of the Stomach

Background. Surgery remains the only curative treatment for gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST). Resection needs to ensure tumour-free margins while lymphadenectomy is not required. Thus, partial gastric resection is the treatment of choice for small gastric GISTs. Evidence on whether performing resection laparoscopically compromises outcome is limited. Methods. We compiled patients undergoi...
